First stop in the Grenadines

We had a beautiful sail from Soufriere, St. Lucia to our first stop in the Grenadines.  The first island we stopped in is Bequia.  What a quaint little island.  We would spend about a week here.  Checking things out and letting a few weather systems pass us by.  The town is very unique with a front street and a back street.  They both had shops and restaurants and fresh markets.  We got some boat projects done while we were here as well.

Another nice thing about Bequia is all the trails to walk.  They have this path that walks along the water and restaurants.  It is quite beautiful.  If you keep following it, it takes you up and over a cliff and down onto the beach.  The beach has neat little pop-up shops and bars for the thirsty and curious shopper.  Here you are back on the Eastern Caribbean dollar or as they refer to it the EC.  Due to the time of year, many of the shops and restaurants were starting to close up for the hurricane season.

Clifton Park, Union Island

You could already tell it was quieter than usual here.  Once we got our next weather window we headed to Union Island, Clifton Park.

This is the area we would check out from.   Not sure if I have explained it before but each country we visit you must check-in and check out. Generally, only the captain of the boat goes in.  There have been a couple of places where we have both gone it but it is rare.   Where was I? Oh, yeah Union island.  This small little island with a beautiful bay and little bar called Happy Island.  When it’s the high season you can usually find Kite surfers all around this bar showing off their stuff.  We were able to catch them open for a bit and had a beer and checked out the unique atmosphere, no kite surfers though.  The next stop would officially be Grenada.

Cheers,

Jill
