After eating a hearty breakfast of eggs and bacon we pulled up anchor and left Compass Cay heading to Norman Cay.  We stopped here on our way down the Exumas but didn’t go ashore.  This time we are going to explore the island a bit and do some snorkeling around a sunken plane that is said to be a must-see.

We had another great sail up to Norman.  Before setting anchor for the day we decided to check out the sunken plane that we had heard was just off of the end of the island.  Carlos Lehder of the Medellin drug cartel used to own the island for his drug running operation, this plane was one that didn’t quite make it to the runway.  If you want to know more of the history on the plane and check out this article.  We didn’t get as close as I wanted to, due to a large group and the current was a bit stronger.  So, we saw what we could see and headed back to the boat.  I did take a small video which you can watch below.  It was pretty neat, another place Dave and I will be back to check out for sure.   After our snorkel, we headed out and around the corner to anchor.   When we set our anchor the first time we realized how choppy it was and decided to pull up anchor and get a little closer and tucked in a bit.  So, we moved and reset the anchor and this helped quite a bit.

Enjoy the video of our snorkel trip on the sunken plane.
