Guess What?  It’s that time of year again!  Yep, it’s time for some college football!  We love a good college football game.  Since we are back in the states again seems like the perfect time to visit the college where Dave got his Bachelors’s Degree.  Plus, we couldn’t think of a better way to spend the weekend than watching one of our favorite teams and hanging with one of our favorite couples.

After leaving Houston we made our way to Auburn, Alabama with a stop in Meridian MS for the night.  The next morning finished the drive and hooked up with our Boat/RV buddies John and Sally.  Once we got all set up we got caught up with our friends and went into town for dinner.

Football

The football game was Saturday around 11 am so we headed in for breakfast and then found a great pub to watch the game.  Due to COVID, we were not allowed to go to the game.  Only, facility, students, and a few others were allowed to attend.  It was ok.  It was still a great time to spend on campus watching the game.  Auburn beat Kentucky and the rolling of Toomer’s corner (or close to it) commenced.  An Auburn Tradition that has been marked by jubilation, destruction, and sadness.

The original trees on Toomer’s corners were poisoned.  You may have heard the story but they were poisoned by an angry Alabama fan.  If you want to know more you can click here.   The two that have replaced them are not allowed to be rolled in order to protect them.  They do have other trees close to Toomer’s corners that students still roll.  Those trees as said to have been grown from the acorns of the original trees that were poisoned. What a fun thing to see.  I guess this is why there is a toilet paper shortage.  Just kidding.

Anyway, it was a great afternoon hanging out with our friends and being a part of some of the Auburn traditions that I have only heard about from Dave.
