This week I decided to take a break on the boat.  You may remember back in January of 2017, I posted a review on several toilet paper that was meant for a boat or RV or septic system.  In my review, I didn’t’ include any pictures or a video.  Also, I forgot about one companies toilet paper.  (Honestly, there are probably more I don’t’ know about, so if you see one I missed let me know in the comment section.)  So, I decided to do a toilet paper review update on that post and put together a video with the additional toilet paper by West Marine.

I originally did this test because we wanted to know what we can use on our boat.  I know when you are on a charter boat you have to throw your toilet paper in a bag.  For the purpose of the charter company not having to deal with toilet clogs I understand this.  We, however, do not want to live with used toilet paper in a bag on our boat.  It’s gross and you always have a smell.  So I decided to research which toilet paper to use.  In that research, I decided to do my own test.

I actually did the test the same way I conducted it the first time and got the same results.  You can check out the video by clicking HERE and you can review my previous blog post by clicking HERE.

As you can see in the video some of them break about and begin dissolving almost immediately and some take a little longer.  I did the test in about a 10 minute time span.  Something I noticed well after I finished the test later in the day was pretty interesting.  It is not in the video, but I did leave the bowls on the counter for the rest of the afternoon.  When I went to toss them I did notice that most of them had started to dissolve but 2.  The Kirkland Bath Tissue (which is rated for septic systems) and the Camco RV/Marine Toliet tissue.  Both stayed in their clumps they were originally in from the test.  It was good to see that more of the toilet paper brands were dissolving better over time.

I actually didn’t throw them out but decided to leave them until morning.  I can say that overnight the Kirkland did break apart much more and start to dissolve.  The Camco stayed in its original clump from the test.

I also wanted to talk about the difference in price between the top three that I chose.  Scott Rapid Dissolve Toilet Paper  I found at Walmart for 3.87 for a 4pack.  Thetford Aqua Soft I found at Camping World for $5.87 on sale regularly $6.90. Lastly, Angel Soft at Walmart for $2.00.  Angel soft definitely wins out on the price point and then Scott Rapid Dissolve and lastly Thetford Aqua soft. Let’s face it dissolvable toilet paper is more expensive than regular toilet paper.  So, I would recommend finding the one you like the best of the video and then price shop it in your area.

In Conclusion,

I would recommend the Scott Rapid Dissolving, Thetford Aqua Soft, Angel Soft.  I chose to keep the Aqua Soft in the number two slot even though it is more expensive because it is designed for a boat/RV.  The Angel Soft is Septic Safe but does not state for RV/boat on the package.  I would not recommend the Camco RV/Marine Tissue, and I might say be cautious if using the Kirkland brand on a boat because it does take awhile to break down.  I used this one in the test because I had heard several people were using it on their boats (even though it doesn’t state that it is for a Boat/RV).  I hope this updated review helps you in your decision on a toilet paper choice.

For your reference, the toilet paper brands I used with links to the cheapest place that I found them were the following…

  1.  Scott Rapid Dissolving
  2. Kirkland Bath Tissue from Costco
  3. Camco RV/Marine Toilet Tissue
  4. Thetford Aqua Soft
  5. Angel Soft Tissue
  6. West Marine Toilet Tissue
  7. Thetford RV/Marine Toliet Tissue

Please note some of the Amazon links are affiliate links.  Please let me know if you use a different brand then we have tested here in the comment section below.  I hope you found this helpful and you enjoyed the video. (it was my first!)

Cheers,

Jill
