After Katie got in a cab and headed to the airport we then headed into the market to pick up a few items.  Next, we headed back to the boat to pull up our anchor.  We had spent several weeks in Georgetown and were ready to move on.  there was also some weather coming and we needed fuel so we decided to head back to Emerald Bay Marina.   We can fuel up and wait out the next storm before heading to some new spots.

On our sail up to the marina, Dave reeled in a beautiful Mahi-Mahi.  I would guess it was about 10 lbs.  As soon as we pulled into the marina and got tied up I filet the fish and popped it in the fridge.  We grilled half of it that evening and saved the rest.  Our half portion of the fish was enough for 3 fish tacos each and fish for the dogs.  Great dinner!

More Exploring

Since we were going to be here for probably a week we decided to check out some more of Great Exuma. Got a rental car and drove all the way north on the island.  We found a few fun spots to stop and have a beer and lunch at.  One place we stopped at was Big D’s Conch Spot, great atmosphere with views that didn’t disappoint.

The next day we took the pups out to the breakers to see the wind and waves.  It was pretty impressive and a beautiful view as always.  While we have been here several times, we still enjoy going over to the Grand Isle resort.  It’s just next door and we love to grab a drink and pizza.  The pepperoni pizza there is so good.  I love pizza so its a nice treat.  They have a beautiful bar and their customer service is great.  Another nice thing about the marina and I may have mentioned it before.  The laundry facilities are free.  If you know when to go you don’t have to wait in line and can knock out your laundry very quickly.

The Pups

This is also a really great spot for the dogs, there are lots of places to walk them and get plenty of exercise.  On the other side of the marina by the breakers is a pretty quiet area. We’re able to let them off the leashes and just run, sniff, and play.  Plus, the marina gets them some down time away from the water.  As much as they like to play in the water they also drink it and that is not the best for them.  We have been working on keeping them from drinking it but some of it is inevitable.  When they end up with too much of it they get upset stomachs.  You can probably guess what that leads to.  Anyway, its a nice change of pace.

While at the marina we caught up with some friends over dinners and happy hours. We made plans to head up to Rudder Cut Cay with a couple we met when we first arrived in the Bahamas.  The weather looked to be improving by the end of the week and Friday was looking to be a great day to sail up to Rudder Cut.

I included some of the pictures we took over the last week or so, enjoy!

Until next week,

Jill
