Flashback Friday: Checking out Grenada.  Since we have been traveling back to Grenada the last few Fridays, I thought we would share some of the sights.  While we had the boat on the hard we rented a vehicle and decided to drive around and check out the island.

Rental Car Day 1

The first day we rented the car we decided to check out the oldest rum distillery in Grenada.   Unfornutly for us it was closed.   They did however let us walk around and see how it all made. Sort of a self guided tour.   I took a few pictures showing it all and all of the used sugar cane.  Then it was off to our next spot which was the old airport.  The drive has also been beautiful.

Pearls airport is known for old cuban and soviet planes and other remenents from the ’80s.  Back then the Cubans were helping to repair and expand the airport.  Along with other events going on in the country, it led to an American invasion.  The airport is very run down and has cattle and goats roaming.    After the quick tour around the airport we drove all around the countryside and found a couple other things to check out.  We decided to head back to the apartment and save those things for tomorrow.

Rental Car Day 2

Our second day was the best.  Not only did we have our boat buddy Karl join us, we also checked out Belmont Estate chocolate company.  The estate is very beautiful and the tour was fantastic.  So informative.  You get to taste chocolate and their hot chocolate which is delicious.  They also serve food in their restaurant but we did not stay to check that out today.  Another time.

After that, we made our way to one of the many waterfalls on the island.   We did the hike to the Seven Sisters waterfall.  What a beautiful hike and the waterfalls didn’t disappoint either.  It is a decent hike, not too difficult, you do have a lot of going down the hillside and back up, but It is all well marked.  At the begining where you park your car there was a tiny little bar.  So, we stopped for a beer and then headed back to the apartment.

As always I have included some pictures from our 2-day car rental trip.

Cheers,

Jill
