Stockyards and Family Time!

After a couple of days in Wichita Falls, we left on a rainy morning heading for Fort Worth Texas.  We are going to check out the city a little bit and then make a visit to the Fort Worth Stockyards.  I was here when I was a kid but Dave has never been.  We thought it would be a fun stop on our way to spend some time with family.

Forth Worth

We arrived with it still raining.  It continued to rain for the rest of the day and night.  The next morning it was drizzly, cloudy, and cool.  But, no rain.  So we dressed a little warmer and headed into Forth Worth.  We got there an hour before they ran the herd so we were able to see the herd run through the streets.  That is always neat to see.  The longhorns that they run through have some pretty impressive horns.  After that, we had a bite to eat at the old stockyards hotel, great food.  Then we checked out a local winery that was at the stockyards.

Cowtown Winery, had several unique wines so we decided to do a tasting.  We tasted the Red Blend, Malbec, and the Pinot Noir.  They were all good and we decided to buy a bottle of Malbec.  Malbec is one of our favorite wines.  After that, we did a few errands then put a fire on and roasted some corn we needed to eat up.

Family Time

We spent the next week with family catching up, relaxing, and just hanging out.  We checked out a great brewery called Alstadts.   Great beers and food.  Next, we will be heading to our last place of residence before we moved on the boat.   Houston!

  1. Wow! They are impressive. I remember seeing them from a distance in the fields around the Space Center in Houston. Great pictures!
