Crater Lake was amazing!  We had such a great weekend.  But now, it is that time where we head out on another adventure.  To The Redwoods We Go!  Can’t wait to see some more big trees.  We saw some big trees in Olympic National Park and I am ready to see some more.

Off we go!  We were on our way by 8:45 am.  Found a spot at a local campground called Sun Harbor for two nights in Crescent City.

Crescent City

A small little town that in my opinion was very industrious.  They did have a local brewery and you know us we had to check it out.  It was ok, not my favorite and the appetizer we had tasted like the cheese came out of a can.  They were super friendly and did have lots of beer options.

It was a nice day though so we did head over to the public beach and put our feet in the pacific ocean.  It has been a while since our feet were in the ocean and man did it feel good!

Redwoods

Got up early Dave made breakfast sandwiches and we headed in for our first hike.  The really great thing about the Redwoods is there are a lot of hikes (at least 8) that you can bring your dog on.  You can even make them a Bark Ranger.  Kind of fun especially if you have kids with you.  We love it when we get to bring the dogs on the hikes with us.   It is better for them and more fun for us.

Our first trail was a short one and not dog friendly so Dave and I did Simpson-Reed Grove trail ourselves.  Then we grabbed the pups and headed on the Walker trail.  This trail was a great hike for us and the dogs.  It was about 2 miles.  Next, we headed south and did the 2 scenic drives and saw a heard of elk on our way.  Unfortunately, all of my photos turned out terrible of the elk.

We also saw a WWII radar station and were able to hike down to it. Very cool.  I have included photos.  We saw a lot of beautiful pacific coastline as well.

Another thing we did that was a lot of fun was bought shrimp and clams and boiled them at the campground.

Brakes

Let’s face it we have been going and going and doing a lot of mountain passes.  It is time to put on new brakes on the front of the RV.  Dave got us an appointment for the morning.  Come to find out we had cracked one of the rotors so we had to have it replaced as well.  Better now than in the middle of nowhere with a major issue.  All was fixed and we were on our way out of town by 12 pm.  Heading to the Grand Tetons.

Cheers,

Jill
