After spending a couple of days on Eleuthera it was time to head over to Cat Island.    We got up early with plans to get gas and head out before low tide.  Unfortunately just as we got the pups back from their walk we noticed a problem.  A mega yacht had moved to the fuel dock.  We had this happen to us in Nassau and the guy was filling the boat for many hours.  I decided to see how much fuel they were going to take on.  I walked over and kindly asked the gentlemen and he told me they were just there to top off their tanks and it shouldn’t take them more than an hour.  An hour we could deal with.  Sweet we were back in business.

We decided to walk over to the restaurant and grab a quick bite to eat for breakfast while we waited.  The guy was right just about an hour later they were leaving and we were getting fuel.  We were finally heading out of the marina to Cat Island.  In the time we have been in the Bahamas (5 months now) we have never been here.  The beaches here are breathtaking and quiet.  This island is a little less visited than other islands.  Because of this, it doesn’t have all the hustle and bustle of the other islands.  It is like the Exumas maybe 10 years ago.

Arthur Town

We had a nice motor over to Cat Island and dropped the hook at Arthur Town.  Now, it was time for dinner and to relax a bit.  In the morning we would go and explore Arthur Town and see what was there.

We got up and headed in with the pups to check out the town.  Unfortunately, most of the area was closed except for school.  It was early enough in the day so we headed back to the boat to move to another spot.  We decided on the area called the bight.  It has a restaurant and resort called Rollez,  Beautiful quiet beaches for the pups to run on as well.

The Bight

Pulled up the anchor and we were off.  It was a motoring kind of day, the winds were right on our nose and fairly light.  It was about 2:30 in the afternoon when we set our hook right off of Rollezz restaurant and resort.  We took the pups into the beach and let them run for a while.  The resort was very quaint and eclectic.  There was a gentleman on the beach who we talked to.  He happened to be one of their chefs.  We made a dinner reservation with him, they usually prefer to know by around lunch but he said they still had room for us.  The food is delicious I would definitely recommend stopping.  It is a great little resort as well.

The next day we took some snacks, some beers, threw on our suits and headed to the beach with the dogs.  Time to relax in the beautiful waters which we had not done in quite a while.  It was a great afternoon.   The dogs got to run as far as you could see, they were pooped.

Hawks Nest

While we were in the area we also took the boat over to Hawks Nest to check it out.  They have a marina and resort with a restaurant.  We anchored outside and took the dinghy in with the pups to explore.  It was a neat area but the marina was very buggy and a LONG walk from the resort and restaurant.  We decided to eat at the restaurant one night.  They had a really neat bar area.  The food was good but not amazing and it was very hard for us to land the dinghy in front of the resort due to all the rocks.  Due to weather, we were staying a few more days so we headed back up to anchor off of Rollezz.  We could bring the pups ashore very easily there.

After another day or so, it was time to stage ourselves to leave the Bahamas.  After talking with Chris Parker (we call him a weather guru ) we decided to leave from San Salvador island.

Off we go to San Salvador, see you next week,

Oh, I almost forgot!  Enjoy the pictures below.
