I am so excited I can hardly stand it. We just landed on Beef Island. In case you are wondering, we took a flight from Houston, TX to San Juan Puerto Rico.  From there we jumped on a little puddle jumper for the 35-minute flight to Beef Island.  We have had a long day but landing in the Caribbean has taken all of the stress of travel away.  It is a little drizzly here, but otherwise, it is warm and wonderful.  After we landed we found a cab driver to take us to the BVI Yacht Charters in Road Town, Tortola.  We had a really nice cab driver who gave us his wifi to check our phones while we waited for other passengers.  It was nice to check in quick see if we had any messages from our other travelers since they all arrived before us.  In BVI cab drivers charge per person instead of per mile like they do in the states, so he was hoping to get some additional riders from our flight.  After waiting a bit he decided to go ahead and go.   We headed to the boat which took about a 35-minute cab ride and met my parents who were waiting there for us.  When we arrived at the boatyard we had a bit of a surprise!   We had been moved to a different boat!

So, here is what happened,  about 3 weeks before our trip we received an email from the office at the charter company letting us know that the boat we had booked had been sold.  Becuase of this they were going to have to change us to a different boat and gave us the 55 Foot Monohaul No Regrets.  This was super exciting because we had originally only booked a 46-foot boat and Dave and I had been interested in trying out a larger boat to see how the two of us liked handling it ourselves.  We were stoked!!  However, that boat was not meant to be either, while they were getting the boat ready for us today the generator stopped working. We had requested a generator so we could have air conditioning for sleeping. We also had parents with us and wanted to make sure they were comfortable on their first sailing trip. They were unable to fix the generator in time and moved us to our current boat which is beautiful!!!   The name is Little Bird and she is a 44-foot Catamaran. This was a very nice boat and everybody is super excited.  BVI Yacht Charters has always been very good to us. They are the only charter company we use in the BVI and will continue to use. We just can’t say enough good things about them, if you are looking for a great charter company check them out.  I do not get any income for recommending them, I just do it because they are the best!!  If you’re interested in seeing the boat you can visit their website and check out the boat by looking at their fleet and then scroll through the catamarans until you find Little Bird.

Well, we are off to get our provisions and a bite to eat.  Tomorrow we shove off and the adventure on the water begins.
Take Care,
Jill
