Sunday morning Dave and I jumped in the car about 730 am and went to scout a spot in the Wapiti Campground.  They fill up quickly because they have electricity sites and are cheap.  We found a great spot, paid for it, and headed back to the campground.  We said our goodbyes for now to John and Sally and took the camper to the new campsite.  Today was Yellowstone National Park Day 1.

Old Faithful

After getting situated at the new site and getting the dogs some exercise we headed into Yellowstone at 11 am.  Today was the day for geysers.  Most importantly Old Faithful.  On our way to see Old Faithful, we saw 2 Cow Moose grazing on the side of the road.  That was pretty neat.

When we arrived at Old Faithful it was set to go off within the next 50 minutes.  We walked around the boardwalk and saw a small geyser go off and then saw a lot of hot pools.  Those were really pretty.  Old Faithful blew at 2:34 pm.  What a sight to see.  The amount of water that is shot out is really something spectacular.

Morning Glory

After it blew we decided to do the 1.5-mile walk to The famous Morning Glory Pool.  We saw several other geysers and pools on the walk to Morning Glory.  Sadly, the pool is not as vibrant as it used to be.  It was originally on the main road and when people would drive by they would throw trash and coins in it.  Over time it clogged it,

The national park actually tried to roto-rooter it and pulled a bunch of junk out of it.  Unfortunately, the damage was already done.  The park changed the road and made it a walking trail only, which has helped.

Heading Back

By the time we got back from Morning glory pool to the car, it was 3:30 pm and time to head back to the camper.  It took us almost 2 hours to get out of the park and back to the camper.  What a beautiful first day in Yellowstone.  We can’t wait to go back in the morning.

Cheers,

Jill

  1. With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright infringement? My blog has a lot of exclusive content I’ve either authored myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my permission. Do you know any ways to help reduce content from being ripped off? I’d really appreciate it.

    1. Hello,
I moved all of my photos to a smart slider gallery format and they can no longer be copied. Another option you can do is to get rid of the right-click option on your blog. What that does is keep people from right-clicking and downloading your stuff. There are several plugins that can do this for you I would google top plugins for removing right-clicking. I also sign all of my photos with either my blog name or my name on my photo or collage or and graphic I put on my website. Another great option is to put Yoast SEO Plugin on your website. This plugin with the RSS feed will automatically provide a link to any of your information that is stolen and reposted. I use Yoast on my site. That way the reader will know who the author is. Hope some of this is helpful. If you want more information we can always chat over email.
